In the past 120 days I have been thinking about the theme Black and White, it was posed for a show call due September 21st 2010.
I have never looked at my work first from the color perspective, but in this case color is where I started. Now at first I thought the subject to be very simplistic, straight forward color. Thinking to myself this will not take much time, I’ll stick a piece in my schedule of deadlines and have plenty of time to spare. But in my drawings black and white posed so much drama and resistance. I was motivated into stimulation of no sleep, sending me into the research and collection mode. I began to read everything I could on the subject. Then I found myself asking others what they thought about Black and White. By the way, this is an excellent conversation starter at openings and parties. The thoughts lead to more drawings which lead to more dimension of the subject. Reading, thoughts, perspective, balance, change, emotion, then symbolism, peoples, places, events and more drawings. I goat extremely entangled in the opportunities of what this simple idea had turned away from being.
Now I am in the last hours of deadline, cramming to finishing 4 sculptures with still no sleep. I have developed many things including a labor some finish for metal and a new respect for the simple colors Black and White. I hope my work will reflect the depths of thought to material, method and meaning this opportunity has offered one artist. I intend to send you the onlooker on a Black and White journey that is not so simple.
My ending task is to choose only 2 pieces of the four, to present for possible inclusion in the show Black and White.
Stay tuned for the pictures I haven’t shot yet. I still have paint touch up and 2 days to go!

Flaming Airbrush on a Honda Gold Wing Trike
http://mvarametalandpaint.com/site/blog/
This job for me was wonderful and the clients were the best. We enjoyed good jokes and I got the opportunity to do my airbrush thing at a reasonable pace on the very beautiful orange base color. I am sad to report that the pictures do no justice as the 3rd dimension and the flip flop glitz is lost in them.
For an in person viewing the Trike will be showing with the Honda Owners Group at the Aviation Mall Glens Falls NY on May 2nd 10am to 2pm.
